The Introduction Of High Carbon Silicon

Production process:
High carbon silicon, also known as silicon carbon alloy, is a subsidiary product of metallic silicon. When producing metallic silicon, the temperature near the furnace bottom and furnace wall cannot stably reach the original standard temperature for completely melting metallic silicon, resulting in more and more metallic silicon that has not completely reacted chemically being attached to the furnace bottom and furnace wall, so high carbon silicon is produced.

 

High carbon silicon, also known as silicon carbon alloy, is a new type of alloy for converters. It can replace ferrosilicon, silicon carbide, and carburizers, reduce the amount of deoxidizers, and is used in converter smelting deoxidation alloying processes. The effect is stable, and the chemical composition, mechanical properties, and internal control quality of the steel are better than traditional processes.

 

With the advent of high carbon silicon, more and more steel mills have begun to use high carbon silicon. The general rated particle size is 10-100mm (90%) or 10-60mm (90%), and the rated content is two types: 1. Silicon: 65% minimum, carbon: 15% minimum, 2. Silicon: 68% minimum, carbon: 18% minimum.


High carbon silicon can be added to the bottom of the converter before the molten steel is poured into the converter to ensure more complete and rapid melting.
