What is the carburizer used for?

01 Carburization
Carburizers are mainly used to increase the carbon content in the material. The increase in carbon content will lead to an increase in the strength of the material, but it will also make it more brittle. Therefore, when using carburizers, the carbon content needs to be adjusted according to the specific needs of the product to meet the performance requirements of different castings.

02 Casting
Carburizers are mainly used to increase the carbon content in the molten iron during the casting process. When casting cast iron and cast steel, castings have specific requirements for carbon content. The role of carburizers is to meet this requirement and ensure that the carbon content in the molten iron reaches the expected level, thereby ensuring the quality and performance of the castings.

03 Increase the amount of scrap steel
Carburizers play a role in increasing the amount of scrap steel in casting production. The use of carburizers can reduce the amount of pig iron used, and in some cases, pig iron can be completely eliminated. This change is mainly due to the fact that carburizers can effectively adjust the carbon content in castings to optimize their mechanical properties. By increasing the amount of scrap steel, not only can costs be reduced, but also the impact on the environment can be reduced, because pig iron usually contains more impurities. Therefore, carburizers not only improve the quality of castings, but also help to achieve a more sustainable production process.

04 Prevent or reduce shrinkage tendency
Carburizers are mainly used to prevent or reduce shrinkage tendency. Shrinkage tendency is a common problem in casting, welding or other metal processing processes, which may cause material deformation or cracks. Carburizers adjust the chemical composition of the metal by increasing the carbon content, thereby effectively reducing the shrinkage tendency. This adjustment can optimize the mechanical properties of the metal, improve its crack resistance and ductility, and thus ensure the stability of the processing process and the quality of the final product.

05 Increase the carbon content in molten iron
Carburizers are mainly used to increase the carbon content in molten iron. In the process of ironmaking or steelmaking, carbon content is an important parameter, which directly affects the physical and chemical properties of molten iron or steel. Carburizers usually contain a higher carbon element. By adding it to molten iron, the carbon content can be effectively increased to meet specific production needs or improve the properties of molten iron. In addition, adjusting the carbon content can also affect the mechanical properties of molten iron or steel, such as hardness, plasticity, and wear resistance. Therefore, carburizers play an indispensable role in metal smelting.
