Blast furnace method: Silica is mixed with coke or coal powder and smelted in a blast furnace. In the blast furnace, the high temperature and reducing atmosphere generated by the combustion of coke or coal powder reduce the silicon dioxide in the silica to silicon metal. This method has a low smelting cost, but the product purity is low.
Calcium carbide method: Silica is mixed with coke or coal powder and smelted through a calcium carbide furnace. In the calcium carbide furnace, silica is reduced to metallic silicon by electric arc heating. This method has a high smelting cost, but the product purity is high.
Silica reduction method: Silica is mixed with coke or coal powder and smelted through a reduction furnace. In the reduction furnace, silica is reduced to metallic silicon by high temperature and reducing atmosphere. This method has a moderate smelting cost and a high product purity.


2. Electric furnace smelting: Electric furnace smelting is a new type of silicon metal smelting process, which mainly includes electric arc furnace method and resistance furnace method.
Electric arc furnace method: Silica and electrodes are placed in an electric arc furnace, and silica is reduced to silicon metal by electric arc heating. This method has a high smelting cost, but the product purity is high.
Resistance furnace method: Silica and a resistance furnace are placed in a resistance furnace, and silica is reduced to metallic silicon by resistance heating. This method has a moderate smelting cost and a high product purity.
