At present, in the steelmaking process at home and abroad, in addition to being used for alloying, a considerable part of ferroalloys is consumed as deoxidizers. With the increase in the proportion of converter steelmaking, the improvement of electric furnace and open-hearth smelting processes, and the increase in oxygen consumption, the proportion of ferroalloys consumed as deoxidizers has increased (the recovery rate of ferroalloys has decreased).
It is very uneconomical and unscientific to use expensive ferroalloys as deoxidizers. For example, binary and multi-component composite alloys are widely used in the refining, deoxidation, desulfurization and inclusion morphology control of many types of steel at home and abroad, which improves the quality of steel and improves the mechanical properties of steel. However, due to the high cost of these composite alloys compared with high carbon ferro silicon, their use is subject to certain restrictions.
In particular, after a large number of small billet continuous casting machines were put into production in my country, how to reasonably apply calcium-based composite alloys has become an important topic. If a low-cost deoxidizer with good deoxidation performance can be developed to replace composite alloys and certain ferroalloys, it will be of great value.
