The main function of recarburizer
Feb 27, 2025
Recarburizer, a carbon-containing substance added to make up for the carbon content burned during steel smelting, is called a recarburizer.
In the smelting process of steel products, due to the long smelting time and insulation time, the carbon content in the molten iron may be greatly lost, resulting in a decrease in the carbon content in the molten iron and failing to reach the expected theoretical value of steelmaking. In order to make up for this loss of carbon content, a recarburizer is added.
The main function of recarburizer
1. Compensate for the carbon content burned during steel smelting and increase the carbon content in the molten iron.
2. Enhance the nucleation ability of the molten iron, refine the grains, and improve the mechanical properties of the castings such as tensile strength, hardness, wear resistance and fatigue limit.
3. Improve the distribution of carbon and alloy elements in the casting metal, make the structure of the casting dense and uniform, and eliminate the segregation phenomenon generated during the casting process.
4. Reduce the amount of slag generated, simplify the slag removal operation, and improve the casting efficiency.
5. Improve the fluidity of the molten metal, stabilize the composition of the molten iron, and prevent segregation.
6. After use, it can significantly reduce the white spot phenomenon, improve cutting performance and mechanical properties.
