The characteristic of silicon metal

Silicon metal, also known as industrial silicon or crystalline silicon, is silver-gray crystalline, hard and brittle, with high melting point, good heat resistance, high resistivity, and high antioxidant effect. The general particle size is 10-100mm.
Silicon is widely used in smelting into ferrosilicon alloy as an alloying element in the iron and steel industry, and as a reducing agent in the smelting of many kinds of metals. Silicon is also a good component in aluminum alloys, and most cast aluminum alloys contain silicon. Silicon is the raw material of pure silicon in the electronics industry. Electronic devices made of pure semiconductor single crystal silicon have the advantages of small size, light weight, good reliability and long life. High-power transistors, rectifiers and solar cells made of silicon single crystals doped with specific trace impurities are better than those made of germanium single crystals. Research on amorphous silicon solar cells has progressed rapidly, and the conversion rate has reached more than 8%. The operating temperature of the silicon-molybdenum rod heating element can reach 1700°C, and it has the characteristics of resistance not easy to aging and good performance.
Application of metal silicon: Metal silicon is smelted from quartz stone and other materials containing more than 98.5% SiO2. Industrial silicon has a wide range of uses. It is a basic industrial raw material. It is mainly used for the production of organic silicon and polycrystalline silicon.
Silicon metal application industry:
1. Silicone field: silicone oil, silicone rubber, silane coupling agent, etc.
2. Polysilicon field: solar photovoltaic and semiconductor materials.
3. Aluminum alloy field: automobile engine, wheel hub, etc.
