High purity ferrosilicon

Jan 03, 2023

The production of high purity ferrosilicon adopts selected quartz stone + petroleum coke (or petroleum coke plus a small amount of other carbon) + silicon steel shavings, and is reduced in a submerged arc furnace. The particle size of petroleum coke is 0-10mm, and the optimal particle size is 0-5mm. The charge ratio is quartz stone:petroleum coke:silicon steel shavings=100:40-55:5-55, and the ratio is based on the fixed carbon content. The chemical composition (weight) of quartz stone is required to be SiO2>98.0%, Al2O3<0.03%, CaO<0.01%, and the sum of other impurities except iron oxide is less than 0.02%. The impurity content of the obtained high purity ferrosilicon product can be controlled within the following range; Si and Fe are two effective elements, and the ratio is adjusted according to the application requirements. If necessary, according to the change of the required amount of individual elements, chlorine gas can be introduced into the liquid product out of the furnace for 20-40 minutes, 20 kg, or oxygen for 30-40 minutes, 5 kg, or water gas (H2+H2O) for 20-40 minutes , 5 kg.
The smelting operation of high purity ferrosilicon is the same as that of ordinary submerged arc furnace method to produce ferrosilicon alloy. That is to say, the submerged arc furnace is energized and the temperature is raised to above 1000°C, and the mixed materials are gradually added to the furnace until the furnace is filled, and then the material level is maintained, and the furnace is pounded and eye-catching as needed. Continuous reduction smelting, intermittent furnace, the first discharge time is longer, and then the regular discharge time varies with the size of the capacity. Normally, there is no need for out-of-furnace refining. If the impurity of the ore is slightly higher and the impurities in the product exceed the standard, a small amount of chlorine gas, or oxygen, or a combination of chlorine and oxygen can be used according to the impurity composition of high purity ferrosilicon to carry out out-of-furnace liquid refining. Sampling analysis, ingot casting, broken packaging.
