Silicon metal in foundry

The metal silicon powder reacts with the oxygen in the liquid slag phase or liquid metal, which strongly releases a large amount of combustion heat, because the formed SiO2 escapes rapidly in this case, which strengthens the kinetic conditions of the reaction. This characteristic is very important for deoxidation. Process is very helpful. Both Si and C contained in SiC have the potential to be oxidized. When the temperature is the same, the potential of the two is approximately the same. Therefore, SiC is not only an excellent deoxidizer for cold-air cupolas, but also for hot-air cupolas.
