Ferrosilicon inoculant

Nov 28, 2022

The inoculant is a kind of inoculant that can promote graphitization, reduce whitening tendency, improve graphite morphology and distribution, increase the number of eutectic groups, and refine the matrix structure. It is mainly suitable for general natural or later transient inoculation in various situations.

Ferrosilicon is an alloy of ferrosilicon and silicon. Ferrosilicon is an iron-silicon alloy made of raised coke, steel shavings, quartz (or silica) and smelted in an electric furnace. Since silicon and oxygen are easy to synthesize silicon dioxide, ferrosilicon is used as a deoxidizer for steelmaking. At the same time, ferrosilicon can also be developed as an alloy design element that can be added. It is widely used in low-alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel and electrical silicon steel products. And in industry, it is often used as a reducing agent.

Ferrosilicon is an inoculant and nodulizer in cast iron industry. Cast iron is an important metal material in modern industry. It is cheaper than steel, easy to melt and smelt, has excellent castability and better shock resistance than steel. Especially for ductile iron, its mechanical system performance can reach or approach that of steel. Adding a certain amount of ferrosilicon to cast iron can prevent carbides during the formation of iron and promote the precipitation and spheroidization of graphite in my country. Therefore, in the production of ductile iron, ferrosilicon is an important inoculant (helping these precipitations) affect graphite) and nodulizers.

Simply put, ferrosilicon is a kind of inoculant. There are many types of inoculants, including ferrosilicon. Is this clearer? Foundry customers can choose the appropriate inoculant according to their actual production requirements.
