Deoxidizer
Dec 26, 2022
As we all know, deoxidizer plays a very important role in the whole steelmaking process. In the process of steelmaking, deoxidation is an important environment, and the quality of deoxidation effect will be directly related to the quality of steel. Therefore, users need to be extra cautious when purchasing deoxidizers.
Deoxidation Methods
Precipitation Deoxidation: Adding elements (Al, Si) that react with oxygen to form solid oxides.
Diffusion Deoxidation: Using slag-forming compounds (e.g., ferrosilicon) to reduce oxygen activity.
Vacuum Deoxidation: Removing oxygen via vacuum degassing (common in high-grade alloys).
First of all, it is necessary to check whether the quality of the deoxidizer is qualified, and also to identify whether the deoxidizer meets the steelmaking requirements. However, there are many kinds of deoxidizers and composite deoxidizers used in steelmaking in the market now.
Although there are many kinds of deoxidizers for steelmaking that we see on the market, all of them contain silicon, aluminum, barium, calcium, manganese and other components, and these components also have a direct impact on the quality of steel.
At the same time, if you want to achieve a good deoxidation effect through the application of a deoxidizer, you must pay attention to various problems. Depending on the deoxidation process, the deoxidation efficiency will also change, which will have an important impact on the quality of molten steel.
Applications
Steel Production (killed, semi-killed, or rimmed steels).
Aluminum & Copper Alloy Processing.
Welding & Casting (to avoid oxygen-related defects).
