Basic principles of ferro silicon smelting
Dec 12, 2022
The basic principle reaction formula of ferrosilicon smelting is: SiO2+C=Si+CO; the whole reaction is roughly divided into the following
four stages:
(1) SiO disproportionation reaction zone
The main reaction in this area is SiO(g)+ 2C(s)=SiC(S)+CO(g)
That is, the silicon oxide gas rising from the bottom of the furnace (various gasification zone) reacts with blue carbon to produce silicon carbide.
(2) SiC production area
The main reaction in this area is SiO2 (L) +3C(s)= SiC(S)+2CO(g)
That is, due to the temperature rise in this area, the silicon dioxide melts from a solid state to a liquid state (semi-molten state), and the reaction
The contact surface increases, and a large amount of blue carbon reacts to form silicon carbide.
(3) SiC decomposition area
The main reaction in this area is SiO2 (L) + 2SiC(S)=3Si(L)+ 2CO(g)
That is, liquid silicon dioxide and silicon carbide react to produce silicon.
(4) Various gasification areas
The main reactions in this area are
3SiO2(L) + 2SiC(S)=Si(L)+ 2CO(g)+ 4SiO(g)
That is, liquid silicon dioxide and silicon carbide react to produce silicon, silicon oxide gas and carbon monoxide gas.
