What Is High Carbon Silicon

Oct 07, 2021

High-carbon silicon is a novel composite alloy deoxidizer, which can replace the more expensive traditional deoxidizers---ferrosilicon powder, calcium carbide, carbon powder and alloy powder. The high-carbon silicon has stable physical and chemical properties and good deoxidation effect. It can quickly react with the oxygen in the molten steel when added to the molten steel to form steel slag and float to the surface of the molten steel to achieve the purpose of deoxidation.

High carbon silicon is suitable for deoxidation during smelting of ordinary steel, alloy steel and special steel. It has the advantages of rapid deoxidation, shortened smelting time, rapid formation of white slag, concentrated reducing atmosphere, easy temperature adjustment, reduced power consumption, increased life of furnace lining and cover, improved steelmaking efficiency, improved molten steel quality, and reduced consumption of raw and auxiliary materials. It can also effectively reduce the amount of fluorite, reduce the concentration of toxic gas fluorine, reduce environmental pollution, and play an important role in improving the comprehensive economic benefits of electric furnaces. High-carbon silicon also has a certain desulfurization effect while deoxidizing, and it also has a recarburization effect, which can replace part of the recarburizer, greatly reducing the cost of steelmaking.
