1. Silicon (Si) content: Silicon is the main component of silicon carbon alloys, and its content has an important influence on the properties of the alloy. Generally speaking, silicon carbon alloys with a silicon content of more than 65% are considered to have higher quality (but there are also data indicating that the silicon content should be between 55% and 65%, depending on the application requirements). High silicon content helps to improve the oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance and deoxidation properties of the alloy.

 

2.Carbon (C) content: Carbon is another important element in silicon carbon alloys, and its content is usually between 1% and 30% (the range given by different data varies), and the specific content needs to be determined according to the purpose of the alloy. The right amount of carbon content helps to enhance the hardness and wear resistance of the alloy.

 

3.Other alloying elements: Silicon carbon alloys may also contain alloying elements such as manganese (Mn), aluminum (Al), calcium (Ca), and iron (Fe), and the content of these elements also has a certain effect on the properties of the alloy. For example, a manganese content between 0.5% and 1.5% helps to improve the alloy's oxidation resistance and wear resistance; while the content of harmful elements such as phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S) should be controlled at a low level so as not to affect the alloy's performance.
