The Application Of Ferro Silicon Powder

Ferrosilicon powder is an iron alloy composed of iron and silicon, which is then ground into powder and used as a deoxidizer for steelmaking and ironmaking. The uses of ferrosilicon powder are very wide:

 

1. Adding a certain amount of silicon to steel can effectively improve the strength, hardness and elasticity of steel. Therefore, ferrosilicon powder is also used as an alloying agent when training structural steel, tool steel, spring steel, and silicon steel for transformers, and as an inoculant and spheroidizer in the cast iron industry.

 

2. Adding a certain amount of ferrosilicon powder and metallurgical materials to cast iron can prevent the formation of carbides in iron and promote the separation and spheroidization of graphite. Therefore, in the production of ductile iron, ferrosilicon powder is an important inoculant (helps to separate graphite) and spheroidizer.

 

3. Used as a reducing agent in ferroalloy production. Not only is the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen high, but the carbon content of high-silicon ferrosilicon powder is also very low. Therefore, high silicon ferrosilicon powder (or silicon alloy) is a commonly used reducing agent in the ferroalloy industry to produce low carbon ferroalloys.

6. It can be used as a coating for welding rods in the welding rod manufacturing industry. High silicon ferrosilicon powder can be used in the chemical industry to manufacture products such as silicone.
