The introduction of silicon manganese alloy
Sep 30, 2024
Silicon manganese alloy is an alloy composed of manganese, silicon, iron, a small amount of carbon and other elements. It is a ferroalloy with a wide range of uses and a large output. Its consumption ranks second among electric furnace ferroalloy products.
Manganese and silicon in manganese silicon alloy have a strong affinity with oxygen. When manganese silicon alloy is used in steelmaking, the melting points of the deoxidation products MnSiO3 and Mn2SiO4 are 1270℃ and 1327℃ respectively. It has the advantages of low melting point, large particles, easy floating and good deoxidation effect. Under the same conditions, the burnout rates of manganese or silicon alone for deoxidation are 46% and 37% respectively, while the burnout rates of manganese silicon alloy for deoxidation are both 29%.
It has been widely used in steelmaking, and its output growth rate is higher than the average growth rate of ferroalloys and higher than the growth rate of steel, becoming an indispensable composite deoxidizer and alloy additive for the steel industry. Manganese silicon alloy with a carbon content of less than 1.9% is also used in the production of medium and low carbon ferromanganese and semi-finished products of electrosilicon thermal method manganese metal.
