The chemical composition of high carbon silicon

Feb 13, 2025

Silicon carbon alloy, also known as high carbon silicon, is a new type of alloy for converters. Its main components include silicon (Si) and carbon (C), as well as small amounts of aluminum (Al), calcium (Ca), iron (Fe) and other elements, as well as trace impurities such as manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), etc.

The silicon content is usually between 50% and 70%, while the carbon content is between 10% and 30%. The higher the silicon content, the wider the application range of silicon carbon alloy, but at the same time the price of the alloy will be higher.
