The application of ferrosilicon

What is ferrosilicon?
Ferrosilicon is an iron alloy composed of iron and silicon. Ferrosilicon is an iron-silicon alloy made by smelting in an electric furnace using coke, steel scraps, and quartz (or silica) as raw materials.
The applications of ferrosilicon:
1. Ferrosilicon is an indispensable deoxidizer in the steelmaking industry. In steelmaking, ferrosilicon is used for precipitation deoxidation and diffusion deoxidation. Brick iron is also used as an alloying agent in steelmaking.
2. It is used as an inoculant and spheroidizer in the cast iron industry. In the production of ductile iron, 75 ferrosilicon is an important inoculant (helps to precipitate graphite) and spheroidizer.
3. It is used as a reducing agent in ferroalloy production. Not only is the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen very large, but the carbon content of high-silicon ferrosilicon is also very low. Therefore, high-silicon ferrosilicon (or siliceous alloy) is a commonly used reducing agent in the production of low-carbon ferroalloys in the ferroalloy industry.
