1. Industrial silicon - the source of emerging industries

The main raw materials of the industrial silicon smelting part are the crushed silica SiO2 and the carbonaceous reducing agent C (the main components are clean coal, petroleum coke, charcoal, wood chips, etc.), and the silicon dioxide is reduced by carbon in an electric furnace. To obtain (reduction reaction formula: SiO2+2C→Si+2CO), the production of 1 ton of industrial silicon requires 2.7-3 tons of silica, about 2-2.5 tons of reducing agent and 0.08-0.13 tons of electrodes. The liquid silicon obtained by roughing is refined, ingot cast, cooled, crushed and packaged, and the finished product is what we call industrial silicon.
In downstream applications, industrial silicon is divided into metallurgical poles and chemical grades. Chemical grades are used as starting materials for the production of organic silicon, polysilicon, and a small amount of refractory materials. Metallurgical grades are non-ferrous alloys such as aluminum alloys. additive. The overall downstream demand distribution of industrial silicon shows a three-pronged trend of 4:3:3. In 2021, the downstream consumption of industrial silicon will account for 37% of organic silicon, 27% of aluminum alloy, and 26% of polysilicon. The end application of the industry involves various basic fields of the national economy such as construction, electric power, electronic appliances, automobiles, aerospace and so on.
2. Polysilicon - rapid development
Polysilicon is essentially the purification of silicon. The specifications of raw material industrial silicon do not have strict boundary requirements. The production process uses industrial silicon and hydrogen chloride as raw materials to reduce polysilicon; The exhaust gas is pressurized and cooled, so that the trichlorosilane and silicon tetrachloride become liquid while the hydrogen, hydrogen chloride, and dichlorodihydrogen silicon remain in a gaseous state, and gas-liquid separation is performed. At present, the main raw material of polysilicon is chemical grade industrial silicon, but with the progress of production technology and the need for cost control, some metallurgical grade industrial silicon has gradually become the mainstream consumption specification of the polysilicon industry, and has become a key product and industry encouraged by the state.
3. Silicone - an important cornerstone
Because of its excellent comprehensive performance, silicone covers more than 8,000 application fields, and has the reputation of "industrial monosodium glutamate". It is the sector with the largest downstream demand for industrial silicon. By mixing and reacting industrial silicon powder with methane gas, organic silicon monomers are generated, and then processed into silicone rubber, silicone oil, and silicone resin to produce other chemicals, which are widely used in construction, automobile, textile, medical, electronics and other fields.
