Self-introduction of ferrosilicon
Apr 28, 2025
Ferrosilicon is an iron alloy material composed of iron and silicon.
The raw materials of ferrosilicon are coke, steel scraps, quartz, etc. It is an iron-silicon alloy smelted in an electric furnace and is also an important alloy variety in the smelting industry. The production of one ton of ferrosilicon raw materials usually requires 1780 to 1850 kg of silica, 890 to 930 kg of coke, and 220 to 230 kg of steel scraps, which is a relatively large amount.
Ferrosilicon has many uses. Because silicon and oxygen are easier to synthesize silicon dioxide, ferrosilicon is often used as a deoxidizer during steelmaking. Also, because silicon dioxide releases a lot of heat when it is generated, it is also more beneficial to increase the temperature of molten steel during deoxidation. In addition, ferrosilicon can also be used as an alloying element additive, and is widely used in spring steel, heat-resistant steel, electrical silicon steel, low-alloy structural steel and other fields.
