1. Physical properties

1). Density

The density of metallic silicon is 2.33 g/cm3, which is one of the lighter metal materials.

2). Melting point

The melting point of metallic silicon is 1,414℃, which is a high melting point metal material.

3). Hardness

The hardness of metallic silicon is relatively high, generally in the range of 6.5 to 7, and has good wear resistance and scratch resistance.

2. Chemical properties

1). Chemical reactivity

Metallic silicon has good chemical reactivity, is easily oxidized at high temperature and oxidizing atmosphere, and reacts with acid and alkali to form corresponding compounds.

2). Corrosion

Metallic silicon has good corrosion resistance and is usually not easily corroded by chemical substances such as acid and alkali.

3). Electrochemical properties

Metallic silicon has excellent electrochemical properties, mainly high conductivity and low resistance.

3. Mechanical properties

1). Strength

Metallic silicon has high strength and good tensile, compression, bending and shearing properties.

2). Toughness

Silicon metal has good toughness and has certain seismic and impact resistance.

3). Plasticity

Silicon metal has low plasticity and is difficult to deform and deform under high stress, so in some cases it needs heat treatment or cold processing to enhance plasticity.

In short, silicon metal is a material with excellent performance and is widely used in industrial manufacturing. Through in-depth analysis of its physical, chemical and mechanical properties, we can better understand and recognize the characteristics of silicon metal materials and provide strong support for its application and development.
