Introduction to Ferro Silicon 75

May 12, 2025

Ferro Silicon 75 (FeSi75) is a ferroalloy containing about 75% silicon. It is produced by reducing iron ore and silicon ore in an electric arc furnace. This alloy is widely used in the iron and steel industry and foundry industry, and is popular for its superior properties and versatile applications.

Main Composition
Silicon (Si): approx. 75
Iron (Fe): balance
Impurities: aluminum, calcium, carbon, phosphorus, sulfur, etc.

Main uses of Ferrosilicon 75
Deoxidizer:
Ferrosilicon 75 is used as an effective deoxidizer in the steel smelting process. Due to its high silicon content, it can effectively remove the oxygen in the liquid steel and improve the quality and performance of steel.

Alloying agent:
Ferro Silicon 75 is also used as an alloying agent, added to steel to improve its mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Especially in the production of silicon steel, spring steel, stainless steel and other special steel grades, ferrosilicon 75 is an essential additive.

Inoculant:
Ferrosilicon 75 is used as an inoculant in the production of cast iron, which can promote the formation of graphite morphology and thus improve the mechanical properties of cast iron.

Refractories:
Ferrosilicon 75 is also used in the manufacture of refractory materials and in the ceramic industry, where it is widely used in a variety of high-temperature industrial applications due to its high melting point and good heat resistance.
