Atomic structure of silicon metal

Oct 11, 2021

Electron arrangement outside the nucleus: 1s²2s²2p⁶ 3s²3p²;

Unit cell type: cubic diamond type;

Unit cell parameters: measured at 20℃, the unit cell parameter a=0.543087nm;

Color and appearance: dark gray, bluish tone;

The E of single crystal silicon (100) measured by nanoindentation method is 140~150GPa;

Electrical conductivity: The electrical conductivity of silicon has a lot to do with its temperature. As the temperature increases, the electrical conductivity increases, reaching a maximum around 1480°C, and after the temperature exceeds 1600°C, it decreases with the increase in temperature.
