Two Collective Studies, One Focus

Mar 04, 2024

In March, spring warms the earth, and a series of "green" transformations are taking place--

In Wenling, Zhejiang, the Jiangxia tidal test power station, the largest in the country, has accelerated the operation of the power station into the "intelligent and automated" fast lane by integrating automation and big data technology.

In Zhuangshang Village, Yuncheng, Shanxi Province, located on the bank of the Yellow River, staff have stepped up the third phase of photovoltaic installation. The abandoned cave dwellings have been turned into photovoltaic courtyards, the barren slopes and wasteland have been transformed into photovoltaic corridors, and the villagers' production and life have all been electrified. Including Shanxi, rooftop photovoltaic projects are being fully implemented in rural areas of 10 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities including Beijing and Guangdong.
Advancing to "green" and green transformation are not only reflected in the hot practice in China, but also become a focus of collective study for two consecutive times by the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee since the beginning of this year.

On February 29, while presiding over the 12th collective study session of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that actively developing clean energy and promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of the economy and society have become the general consensus of the international community to respond to global climate change.

One month ago, on January 31, while presiding over the 11th collective study session of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, General Secretary Xi Jinping also emphasized this topic: "Green development is the foundation of high-quality development, and new productivity itself is green productivity. We must accelerate the green transformation of the development model."

Both collective studies focused on green transformation and green development, which shows their importance and urgency in the high-quality development of my country's economy - my country's energy development still faces huge demand pressure, many supply constraints, and green and low-carbon transformation. Difficult tasks and a series of challenges.
Why does the General Secretary frequently emphasize green and low-carbon development? This is the need to promote high-quality development of new energy.

When presiding over the latest group study, the General Secretary said that we must follow the trend and take advantage of it, promote the high-quality development of new energy in our country with greater efforts, provide safe and reliable energy guarantee for Chinese-style modernization, and contribute to the joint construction of clean energy. Make a greater contribution to a beautiful world.

How to achieve green and low-carbon transformation? During the 11th collective study session of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the General Secretary made a clear request-

Accelerate green technological innovation and the promotion and application of advanced green technologies, strengthen green manufacturing, develop green service industries, expand green energy industries, develop green and low-carbon industries and supply chains, and build a green and low-carbon circular economic system.

Continue to optimize the economic policy toolbox that supports green and low-carbon development, give full play to the traction role of green finance, and create efficient ecological green industrial clusters.
