Technology Changes Agriculture! When Traditional Wheat Meets Modern Mechanized Harvesting
May 15, 2023
Right now, my country's summer harvest has kicked off. As the earliest mature wheat area for summer grain, the winter wheat area in the southwest wheat area is about 15 million mu, accounting for 4.5% of the country's wheat production, and more than 30% of the current harvest has been harvested. In many places across the country, a large number of agricultural machinery is busy shuttling in the fields, helping agricultural production reduce costs and increase efficiency.
In Zitong, Sichuan, 246,800 mu of wheat had a bumper harvest recently. In order to ensure food safety and timely harvesting and storage, more than 1,000 combine harvesters were organized locally to rush to harvest mature wheat. The combine harvester shuttles back and forth among the golden waves of wheat, leaving neat rows of stubble after the machine passes by. The cutting, shelling, and threshing are all done in one go under the operation of the agricultural machine driver. At the same time, the straw was crushed and returned to the field on the spot, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent planting of 20,300 mu of soybeans and 260,000 mu of corn.
Zhang Ronghong, a large grain grower in Longkou Village, Wenchang Town, Zitong County, Sichuan Province: The wheat harvest has been bumper, and we are working harder and harder. Immediately after the wheat harvest, the land is plowed to plant corn and soybeans.
Mechanized Wheat Harvesting Increases Agricultural Efficiency and Increases Farmers' Income
Wheat is also harvested by modern mechanization in Zhenfeng, Guizhou. In Xinzhai Village, Shuangfeng Street, agricultural machinery operators drive harvesters, shuttle back and forth in the continuous wheat fields, and are busy harvesting wheat. The use of mechanized harvesting can effectively improve production efficiency while reducing costs, and provide a strong guarantee for subsequent agricultural production.
Peng Wanli, executive cadre of Xinzhai Village, Shuangfeng County, Zhenfeng County, Qianxinan Prefecture, Guizhou Province: If harvesting manually, one mu of wheat needs 3 people to harvest manually, and 2 people need to manually thresh the grain, which will cost 500 yuan. It costs 80 yuan.
In addition to wheat, some places have also entered the harvest season of rapeseed. In Yingcheng, Hubei, the local government vigorously promotes mechanized harvesting of rapeseed and the realization of straw crushing and returning to the field through demonstrations, policy incentives, etc., thereby reducing production costs and labor intensity, and improving production efficiency and overall benefits. At present, the mechanization rate of rapeseed harvesting in the city has reached more than 95%.
Yao Hongtian, a farmer in Gaojia Village, Chang'an Town, Fujin City, Heilongjiang Province: The quality of the rice transplanter is very good, and the transplanting speed is very fast. 150 acres of land, two people can finish planting in three days. Farming now depends on technology.
