Differences from Similar Materials: High carbon silicon is often confused with ferrosilicon and silicon carbide, but they differ significantly in their nature and applications:

1. High carbon silicon vs. silicon carbide:

Nature: High carbon silicon is a mixture alloy of multiple elements; silicon carbide is an inorganic compound (SiC) composed of silicon and carbon, with extremely high hardness.

Applications: High carbon silicon is used for deoxidation and carbonization in steelmaking; silicon carbide is more commonly used in refractory materials, abrasives, or semiconductors.

2. High carbon silicon vs. ferrosilicon:

Composition: Ferrosilicon mainly contains silicon and iron, with very low carbon content; high carbon silicon contains a significant proportion of carbon.

Function: Ferrosilicon is mainly used for deoxidation; high carbon silicon has both deoxidation and carbonization functions, and can replace the combination of "ferrosilicon + carbonizer".
