The latest data from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism shows that during the three-day holiday, 119 million domestic tourism trips were made across the country, an increase of 11.5% from the same period in 2019 on a comparable basis; domestic tourists spent 53.95 billion yuan on travel, an increase of 12.7% from the same period in 2019.
Recently, cultural tourism consumption in various parts of the country has continued to grow. Data from a travel platform shows that the number of air tickets and hotel bookings during the Qingming Festival increased by nearly 80% from the previous week, and the number of domestic flight ticket bookings was approximately 2 million, an increase of over 60% from a week ago.
Dai Bin, president of the China Tourism Academy, said that the willingness to travel during this holiday has steadily increased, with "flower appreciation + folk customs" becoming an important feature, and the "one old and one young" model of family travel and study tours becoming a highlight.
Data shows that folk customs, food, intangible cultural heritage crafts, etc. are becoming key points of cultural tourism consumption. The tourism popularity of Yanbian and Zibo, which exploded last year, will continue. During the Qingming Festival holiday in both places, tourism popularity increased by more than 200% year-on-year. Weihai, Qinhuangdao, Huangshan, Datong, Jinzhou, Diqing, Tianshui and other cities also entered the top ten list of destinations for the Qingming Festival holiday this year.
Among them, Yunnan Diqing has become popular on the entire Internet with its "Shangri-La" tourism IP, and Gansu Tianshui Malatang has become popular on the entire Internet, making Gansu Tianshui a "dark horse" destination this year. Weihai, Datong, Jinzhou and other cities, with their unique natural scenery and cultural heritage, have become new choices for tourists seeking in-depth travel and personalized experiences.
