How To Use Silicon Carbon Alloy

Mar 20, 2025

High carbon Silicon can be used in the following ways

(1) Adding method: Manually add it into the ladle.

(2) Adding time: Before steel is tapped, add 1/2 into the ladle. After steel is tapped, add the remaining half. Then alloy it according to the regulations.

(3) High carbon Silicon is added in an amount of one kilogram per ton of steel. The consumption of aluminum is reduced from 1kg/T steel to 0.3kg/T steel; silicon calcium is no longer used, and the amount of ferrosilicon and ferromanganese can be reduced from the upper limit to the middle limit.

The advantages and positive effects of High carbon Silicon are good deoxidizer performance. The production cost is low, and the traditional deoxidation and alloying process can be divided into two steps: deoxidation and alloying. Deoxidation is completely achieved by the deoxidizer; the alloy is only used for alloying, and no longer bears the responsibility of deoxidation. In this way, the responsibilities are clearly defined, which can not only greatly improve the alloy yield and save a lot of energy and alloys, but also simplify and standardize the deoxidation and alloying process, provide conditions for automatic control of the steelmaking process, refining outside the furnace and other operations, and greatly reduce the cost of steelmaking.
