Advantages of High Carbon Silicon in Steelmaking
1.Effective Deoxidation
High carbon silicon contains silicon, which is added during steelmaking as a deoxidizer. The silicon reacts with oxygen in the molten steel, effectively removing impurities and enhancing the steel's hardness and overall quality. Due to silicon's strong affinity for oxygen, the addition of high carbon silicon ensures stable molten steel with minimal splashing.

2.Slag Aggregation
High carbon silicon promotes slag formation by causing oxides generated during steelmaking to clump together rapidly. This facilitates easier filtration, resulting in purer molten steel while significantly improving the density and hardness of the final product.

3.Furnace Temperature Boost
Adding high carbon silicon during steelmaking raises the furnace temperature, improving the conversion efficiency of ferroalloys and accelerating reactions between molten steel and other alloying elements.

4.Cost Efficiency
With traditional ferroalloy materials becoming increasingly expensive, high carbon silicon (a cost-effective alternative) is gaining popularity among manufacturers. It can partially or fully replace pricier materials like ferrosilicon, silicon carbide, and recarburizers in steelmaking. By reducing deoxidizer consumption and optimizing the converter smelting process, high carbon silicon helps lower production costs while maintaining quality, ultimately increasing profitability.

In the process of smelting metal silicon, the heating of the electrodes in the furnace is not enough. This causes the bottom of the furnace to reach the temperature required to produce metal silicon. Raw materials such as bottom silica and carbon are not fully reacted. After a long time of accumulation, high carbon silicon is thus formed.
