Ferrosilicon high carbon metal comes from leftover material from the production of silicon metal and is agglomerated at the bottom of the furnace. Elemental silicon content is typically between 40-70% and carbon content is 10-25%. Ferrosilicon high carbon is often used as a substitute for low-cost ferrosilicon, silicon carbide and carburizers to reduce steelmaking costs.
