Ferro Silicon Application

Ferrosilicon (FeSi) is an alloy of silicon and iron and is an important additive in the manufacture of steel products.

Ferroalloys are master alloys containing iron and one or more non-ferrous metals that are used as the most economical way to introduce an alloying element in the steel melt. Their main benefits are an improvement in steel tensile strength, regular strength and resistance to wear and tear and corrosion. 

Ferrosilicon is known to possess good resistance to abrasion, good resistance to corrosion, high specific gravity, and high magnetism, which allows easy magnetic recovery. The melting point and density of ferrosilicon depends on its silicon content and it is available at a low cost.

1）As a source of silicon to reduce metals from their oxides and to deoxidize steel and other ferrous alloys

2）Manufacture of other ferroalloys

3）Manufacture of silicon, corrosion-resistant and high-temperature resistant ferrous silicon alloys, and silicon steel for electromotors and transformer cores

4）Manufacture of cast iron, ferrosilicon is used for inoculation of the iron to accelerate graphitization

5）In steel melting, casting, mineral processing and melting rod industry
